Special Events at our Home

A visit from ducklings!  The Ladies Home has a special relationship with our volunteers, members of the community, and our local schools, all of which provide our residents new learning opportunities and interactions with members of the community.  Here, Florence Smith from the San Francisco Schools uses animals to discuss currrent conservation issues.

The positive impact animals have on a person's physical and mental well-being is well documented.  As a result, we have regular visits from human and animal volunteers from the San Francisco SPCA.  At right, one of our residents enjoys some quality time with a canine companion.

A favorite activity of residents and volunteers, our cooking classes enable participants to perfect their pastry skills while socializing with each other.

Confucius once said, "Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without."  For this reason, our Home frequently hosts musicians for our residents' enjoyment.  Here, Denny Guyer, a popular and talented musician, performs an afternoon jazz concert.
